Scarring of the basal meninges with subsequent syrinx formation.
This causes predominantly cranial symptoms, including pain at the back of the head.
It may result from infection such as tuberculosis, when the CT scan may show hydrocephalus, a basilar arachnoiditis, or intraparenchymal lesions: termed tuberculomas.
