In 1941, Markovich, Walker and Jessico ([1]) studied the effect of iodised oil on the meninges, and published their findings in the prestigious journal, JAMA.

 

They stated:

"after the injection of iodised oil ...the oil becomes rapidly encysted by proliferation of the arachnoid membrane."
